Black History Month

1–31 October 2026
Southampton's Black History Month South programme for October 2026: music, film and stories honouring our communities.

Black History Month South is Southampton's Black History Month programme: "Honouring Our Communities", celebrating our past, present and future. It's run by the Black History Month South community organisation with partner venues across the city, and sponsored this year by Westquay.

This series gathers the October 2026 programme as it reaches us: live music from Mali and the Gambia at Turner Sims, hip hop and jazz, a documentary on Black creatives in British fashion at John Hansard Gallery, and an evening of short films made by local people with Our Version Media. Each event links through to the venue or organiser for tickets and details.

Black History Month South also launched a free membership for 2026, free until 31 October. Follow them on Instagram, Facebook and YouTube.
