We will never be a political organisation. Here's why:
Firstly, we campaign for better public transport infrastructure, among other things, in the Solent region. We believe all parties should buy into this. That way plans of one will not get undone by another.
Because, our political system is short-termist, with 5 year election cycles. Bad news for super grand-scale infrastructure projects that will get bent out of shape. See HS2.
Where parties can differentiate is by offering enhancements on top of the unilateral agreements for such infrastructure and ways to speed up the process.
Secondly, we want to tend towards journalism rather than column-writing and opinion pieces. That means being open to views across the political spectrum. By being partisan means that we would be turning away from some viewpoints and alienate readers.
Thirdly, no-one has the monopoly on ideas. Shouldn't there be grown-up collaboration where those with opposing views can bring themselves to praise an idea from their political opponents?
